Devices
Devices such as Laptops, Pads, cell phones, etc at meetings
I wonder where is the person’s attention/focus. Is the attention/focus on the device ? Is the attention/focus on the people ?
I see looking at a screen and listening to a person as splitting a person’s attention/focus.
I have low confidence that a person can fully hear and take in another person’s experience when their attention/focus is split in the moment.
I can see one person, who is taking notes or minutes, using a laptop during the meeting.
Here are questions for a group to answer:
--- What impact does having devices (cell phone, laptops, etc.) turned on during a meeting ?
--- What impact does looking at a device have on people’s ability to hear and take in another person’s experience ?
--- What impact does looking at a device have on people’s ability to clearly express themselves ?
--- How much time do People look at the people in the room ?
--- How much time do people looks at screens - laptop, cell phone, etc. ?
--- Are devices are turned off ?
--- Are devices put in a basket during the meeting ?
--- Are devices turned off when put in basket ?
