Four Surveys

These surveys are for quickly finding out where the group is at for making a decision.

Survey1)

Are you clear about who (name person(s)), does what , with what with which community resources and when ? If anyone says no, ask them, how many are not clear about who ? does what ? with which community resources ? When ? Pass ? Skip ?

Maybe group wants to give up to x minutes for each person to more fully answer the survey.

Purpose:

If these basics are not clear, there is a high chance there will be big problems.

Survey 2)

What degree of impact do you see this having on your experience with group ? How many say none ? low ? medium ? high ? pass ? Skip ? Everyone has option to speak up to one minute, answering this question, “Is there something around the impact that you want to share that will help the group make a decision ?”

Purpose:

This is about evaluating how much time to spend discussing proposal. In general, the greater the impact, the more time needed for listening to gather all required information to make an informed decision.

Survey 3)

To what degree do you experience your concerns being heard around this proposal ? How many say high ? Medium ? Low ? None ? Pass ? Skip ? Everyone has option to speak up to one minute, answering this question, “Is there something the group has no heard that you want to share that will help the group make a decision ?”

Purpose:

This is about evaluating have we heard enough to make an informed decision and who is probably needing to be heard. The more people say unheard, the more likely the group is missing critical info for making an informed decision and lack social agreement to effectively carry it out.

Survey 4)

Straw Poll, How many say: (each person chooses one option)

no, will move out if passes

no, will attempt to live with

no, within my tolerance

equally yes and no

undecided

yes, important for me to continue

yes, want this

stand aside

Purpose:

This is about finding where everyone stands in terms of yes,no, stand aside before deciding.

Sometimes, a group can get so caught up in debate, no one realizes everyone is ready to vote yes.

This is a way to find out where people stand. It might be easier for people to say no or yes, when no decision is being made in the moment. Hearing no or yes can provide critical information for how to move forward.
